  1. The advantages are it allows the population of endangered species to rebound, can lead to sustainable harvesting, allows scientists to conduct research, and ensures that fishermen still have jobs.
  2. Some of the challenges in getting commercial fishing operations to change their practices are the lack of ocean area that is being sold, fear that sustainable harvesting with harm profits, and the amount of harvesting and exploitation rights that need to be purchased, and the overall expenses.

a.) One reason why Florida Reef might not be international recognized as a hotspot it that it contains a wide variety of species, but not high numbers of endemic species. Another reason might be that it has a lower-conservation priority because it has no human population.
b.) Two ecosystem services provided by Florida Reef are wildlife habitat and recreation.
c.) Coral bleaching is process by which algae inside corals die, which causes the corals to turn white.
d.) If hurricanes are important for maintaining the diversity of coral reef ecosystems but also put many coral reef species at risk of local extinction, then the extinction of local species helps ecosystems maintain their diversity by regulating what can adapt to the environment.
